2008 Schedule is Here!

Summer is a wonderful part of childhood, a time to play outdoors, to explore, to learn and make new friends. Montgomery has 48 years of experience in making summer a magical time for your child. Few places provide such a unique, caring environment, rich with opportunities for children to discover themselves in a supportive, Christian community.

Montgomery Presbyterian Camp, Conference & Retreat Center was established in 1957 on 167 wooded acres on three spring-fed lakes. Owned and operated by the Presbytery of St. Augustine, Montgomery exists to provide unique programs in a setting which gives youth and adults the opportunity to experience the love of God through Jesus Christ in ways that deepen faith and increase the appreciation of, and service to each other. The camping ministry at Montgomery is an extension of the Christian education programs of the Presbytery of St. Augustine and of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

About Our Program:

An atmosphere of caring and acceptance pervade the Montgomery camp experience. Living in a Christian community, campers are free to be themselves while experiencing new and exciting activities under the direction of staff members who are dedicated to serving Jesus Christ and sharing His love. In the process of making new friends, meeting people from around the world, sharing in Bible study and worship, laughing a lot and having loads of fun, campers are challenged to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially.

Campers live in cabin groups with one counselor and five to seven other campers their own age. With another cabin, they form a family group. Family groups develop a community of trust, openness, and sharing as they join together in Bible study, worship, swimming, skiing, sailing, archery, recreation, arts and crafts and hiking. Older campers can participate in group and self-discovery on the challenge and high ropes course or in one of our adventure camps. During the evenings, family groups join together for special events like games, skits or mini-olympics. Each evening is closed with all camp worship.

Health and Safety:

Our site and programs are accredited  with the American Camp Association. Rest assured your children will be in good hands during their stay, because at Montgomery, our staff is selected based on their Christian commitment, maturity, and their interest in working with the youth. After selection they are screened rigorously, including a criminal background check. To prepare for summer camp, the staff go through an intensive training program as well as first aid, CPR, lifeguarding and boating safety courses. The Montgomery staff take the health and well being of your child very seriously. There is always a health supervisor on duty and medical help is only minutes away if ever needed. To ensure every precaution is taken, each camper is required to have a completed medical form on file with Montgomery before they are allowed to enter their camp.

Cabin Assignments:

An intentional part of the program at Montgomery is to provide opportunities for campers to develop relationships with people from other areas and backgrounds. Cabin assignments are made before camp begins and youth from the same area or church are usually placed in different rooms and family groups. If you feel that an exception is needed, you may request so in writing, mailed with your Registration and Health Form.

Check-in and Check-out:

Most Camps begin with check-in from 3:00-4:30 pm on Sunday and end on Friday afternoon.  Parents and families are invited to a closing celebration on Fridays at 4:15 pm with the program ending with checkout at 5:00 pm. The Wild Water Adventure camps have an early check-in time at 9:00 am for travel to Georgia on the first day. The Music Camp has a late checkout following dinner at 5:30 and the musical performance.
